One of the drawbacks of being head of group is that it's practically impossible to switch off completely from work. Since arriving in Hungary last Saturday, I've spoken to work colleagues on four out five of the work days. But Friday's was the coup de grace.
A client has insisted that I call them from holiday. They have a large, urgent project and no one but me will do. The assistant suggested that another partner might do, but the client was comfortable only with discussing the matter with me.
At one level, it's hugely flattering - "they need me". At another, it's rather frustrating, because it's hard ever to get to switch off properly. Ah well, I'm not going to complain. In the meantime, I'll try to avoid Brian's meaningful looks.
